The first challenge of this project was getting a functional entrance in a 3-foot space along the side of a 106-year-old home. We accomplished this with a 1" retaining wall and a sunken patio that also provided egress from the new basement space. The new kitchen and bathroom fit neatly around existing plumbing and utilities.
